X3D: The Real-Time 3D Solution for the Web
Siggraph 2009 Web3D Tech Talk Podcast
The Web3D Consortium celebrates a decade of innovation and interoperability in Web3D technology. This year at SIGGRPAGH 2009 in New Orleans, the Web3D Tech Talk will showcase Web3D Consortium’s standard X3D, the only open, royalty-free and ISO-certified technology available today for interactive 3D graphics on the World Wide Web. Join a large innovative community of content and application developers who see this standard as the future for deployment of real-time 3D graphics applications. The Web3D Tech Talk is always a popular event at Siggraph, attended by over 300 conference attendees. Last year we had standing room only. Use of X3D systems has increased steadily throughout the world, delivering durable applications in industry, science, medicine, culture, entertainment and education. Indeed, worlds and scenarios authored over ten years ago still run today and are faster than ever.
If you have incredible and innovative cross platform X3D or VRML content, you may be invited to be a speaker to discuss and demonstrate your products at this Web3D Tech Talk on Wednesday, August 5 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM at the New Orleans, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center - Exhibit Hall floor. You will have 10 minutes to present your work and the tools used going from your concept to the final product. Send your proposal to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by July 17, 2009.
Participation is open to all consortium members. Prospective presenters are invited to submit their proposal for review to the Web3D consortium selection committee. Submission must include:
- Brief abstract of your presentation.
- One page summary of your X3D content/innovation.
- Link to your X3D content or screen shots.
- Preliminary slide set of your presentation not exceeding 10 minutes.
Important Dates:
- July 17: Submit your X3D content and Presentation to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
- July 17-23: Formal jury selection by a select panel of X3D experts and judges.
- July 24: Acceptances announced to submitters.
- July 27-30: Final Preparations and virtual rehearsals.
- August 4: Rehearsal in New Orleans (evening).
- August 5: Talk Time!

Our 2006, 2007, and 2008 Web3D Tech Talk events were a big success. Check out our Siggraph 2007 Web3D Tech Talk podcast. We plan to build a podcast this year too.
X3D Interoperability Showcase
Details to follow.
Come join X3D vendors in showcasing X3D browser interoperability. This event during our Tech Talk will showcase how browsers are playing the same content.
<Web3D Consortium Booth #2029 - X3D Technology Exhibit
Meet the Web3D Consortium team in booth #2029 at SIGGRAPH 2009 and become a part of this emerging standard. Come see our X3D innovators show off their latest real-world 3D applications and content, and find out how you can use X3D for your real-time 3D graphic needs. Web3D consortium will also host member companies to exhibit their X3D based technologies in our booth (#2029). Technologies to be exhibited are Medical imaging, Scientific visualization, Geospatial, 3D education and CAD.
- Bitmanagement will showcase textured 3D models of complete cities constructed automatically and visualized with the high performing BS Contact GeoVRML/X3D viewer interactively on the web.
- Fraunhofer will amaze you with its augmented reality demonstration using pre-computed radiance transfer to simulate reflection of surrounding real light on the virtual object that is merged into the real scene.
- Yumetech will be demonstrating applications developed using its Xj3D and ChefX3D toolkits, see several new applications being developed using these toolkits including domain specific editors for mass market 3D printing.
