<P>>1. Call for proposals for the Web3D Standards Meeting at SIGGRAPH 2012 </P>
<P>Date: August 8th (Wed) (tentative, or 7th) <BR>Place: A BOF room or the International Theatre </P>
<P>Anita will arrange the date and place soon. </P>
<P><BR>>Call for Proposals for the Web3D Standards Meeting at SIGGRAPH 2012<BR>We decided not to have restrictions on the submission of proposals. <BR>Anyone can submit and present their proposals at the meeting. <BR>Everybody is welcome to participate. </P>
<P>For your information, Dick, Don and I booked rooms at Hilton Checkers Los Angeles, one of the listed SIGGRAPH hotels. </P>
<P>We discussed X3D e-book formats. We need to make efforts on the standardization of e-book or e-publishing formats with X3D. <BR>We have been in contact with the IMS global consortium and IDPF. <BR>We will discuss this topic and cooperation with other standards organizations at the e-Learning SIG meeting scheduled on May 23 at 5pm PDT. </P>

<P>>2. Review of the minutes of the last AR WG meeting (Gun Lee)</P>
<P>Don made the following comments:<BR>Many other organizations such as SC24, SC29, OGC, and W3C are also targetting AR standardization. <BR>We need to analyze and harmonize the efforts of these organizations so as not to have dupicate results. <BR>There was a paper about geometric compression among the SC29 works. <BR>This topic may be in conflict with our X3D binary encoding. <BR>We need to examine the SC29's geometric compression to determine if it is suitable and can and applied to 3D transmission. <BR>This topic is also valuable for AR applications. </P>

<P>The Web3D Korea Chapter and the Web3D Consortium are pleased to announce the invitation of proposals for Web3D standardization to be submitted in advance of the Web3D Standards meeting, to be held SIGGRAPH. Here, we would like to discuss and finalize Web3D standardization items for new work item proposals for the ISO (International Organization for Standardization). </P>
<P>ISO Web3D standardization has been progressed with the efforts of working groups in the Web3D Consortium in cooperation with ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 24. The working groups are voluntarily organized by Web3D Consortium members who are interested in Web3D standardization. </P>
<P>Web3D standardization topics for the proposals include, but are not limited to, the following:</P>

<P>Web3D Data Exchange <BR>Web3D Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality<BR>Web3D CAD<BR>Web3D Humanoid Animation<BR>Web3D e-Learning<BR>Web3D Medical<BR>Web3D Mobile</P>

<P>Any other areas related to Web3D standardization may be included.</P>
<P>Proposals should be submitted by Web3D professional members (see <A href="http://www.web3d.org/membership/join/">http://www.web3d.org/membership/join/</A>), while anyone is welcome to participate in the meeting at SIGGRAPH. </P>
