Web3D and SC24 WG9 Meetings <BR>><BR>>Date: January 29 - 31<BR>>Place: Seoul Palace Hotel <BR>><BR>>The meetings will be held as follows:<BR>><BR>>January 29 (Tuesday) AM/PM: Web3D Meeting<BR>>January 30 (Wednesday) AM: Web3D Editing Meeting<BR>>January 30 (Wednesday) PM: SC24 WG9 Meeting<BR>>January 31 (Thursday) AM/PM: SC24 WG9 Editing Meeting<BR>><BR>>We will discuss new work items proposed at previous Web3D Meetings and SC24 WG9 Meetings and new items to be proposed.<BR>>We are extending an invitation to any professionals who wish to join international standardization efforts in the areas of Web3D or SC24. <BR>>For those professionals that wish to present their items at the meetings in January, we ask that they send in an abstract or presentation materials about their proposal by December 31st. </P>

<P>There were discussions concerning the SC29 AR.<BR>It seems something wrong because SC29 is using the same title and terminology about the AR Reference Model that was first presented by SC24 at the last year's SC 24 meeting in Rapid City, when WG9 was created.</P>
<P>Porf. Ha Jine Kimn, SC24 Chair, will present on the direction of SC 24 AR at the JTC1 meeting to be held November 5-10 in Jeju, Korea. <BR>Gerry will also attend the meeting as an observer. <BR>At the AR meeting on November 21, we will hear about the JTC1 meeting.</P>

Location of Proposal Numbers on the Wiki Site<BR>><BR>>Proposal numbers issued by the Web3D Consortium are important for the Korea chapter<BR>>because they are referenced and evaluated by sponsors. <BR>>We suggest moving them from the current location, <BR>>http://web3d.org/x3d/wiki/index.php/Korea_Chapter_Public_Wiki,<BR>>to the main page of the Public X3D Wiki with a new section title such as "8. <P>>4. MOU with IMS Global Learning Consortium (e-Learning SIG) </P>
<P>On October 24, Kwan-Hee Yoo, Yong Sang Cho, and I had a dinner meeting with IMG Global Learning Consortium and IDPF chairs and members in Seoul, Korea. <BR>There was an e-Learning forum in Seoul where representatives from two e-learning consortiums were in attendance. <BR>The agenda was as follows:</P>
<P>=============<BR>- MOU between the Web3D Consortium and the IMS Global Learning Consortium <BR>- MOU between the Web3D Consortium and IDPF <BR>- X3D data format for 3D digital textbook <BR>=============</P>
<P>The minutes are as follows:</P>
<P>=============<BR>Attendees: three from the IMS Gloabl Learning Consortium, three from IDPF, eight from KERIS, two from Web3D</P>
<P>- The MOU between the Web3D Consortium and the IMS Global Learning Consortium has been completed.<BR> All the members from the consortium were signed. Kwan-Hee Yoo will send it to the Web3D Consortium. <BR>- We also talked about the second MOU with IDPF. However, Bill McCoy, Executive Director of IDPF doesn't see the necessity of the MOU.<BR> It was agreed that the MOU relationship with IDPF would not be processed, rather the adoption of X3D for the IDPF format was discussed. <BR>- A 3D digital textbook for X3D book was discussed. It seems that IDPF thought of COLLADA for a 3D format.<BR> X3D digital textbook using IDPF format may be a good starting point for 3D e-books.<BR>=============</P>
