For Web3D members:

Interesting example MetadataSet record, discussion in today's CAD Design Printing Scanning call minutes

Important future work:

* Of note is that a lot of Semantic Web work is going on that logically correlates multiple ontologies. Composition allows queries/pattern matching/reasoning that works across structured vocabularies without further definition of relationships, this is part of expressive power of Semantic Web approaches.

* Possible resource: Apache Tika content analysis toolkit. Can we add X3D representations as future work?
“The Apache Tika™ toolkit detects and extracts metadata and text from over a thousand different file types (such as PPT, XLS, and PDF). All of these file types can be parsed through a single interface, making Tika useful for search engine indexing, content analysis, translation, and much more.”
   http://tika.apache.org

* Near future: X3D Semantic Web working group will figure out the best design pattern to turn these MetadataSet records into triples in a manner consistent with rest of X3D Ontology. Powerful parallels.

all the best, Don
