[Source] Need help with ChefX3D

Hi all,

I'm new here and I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, but
since the ChefX3D mailing list is not working this is probably the best
place to do so. As I'm registered in the chefx3d-cvs list, I know it's under
heavy development, so hopefully someone will be able to help me over here.

I wanted to give it a try with the stable version, but the link is broken in
their webpage. Although I could find two zip files in their website
containing binaries for versions 2 (stable) and 3 (which seems to be the
version they're working on) and demos, they're not working properly on mac
os and even gave me more errors on Windows. For version 2, xj3d does not
seem to work, and version 3 seems to be full of bugs.

Anyway, it's been two weeks or so that I've been trying to get a basic
example of the HEAD version of the ChefX3D library to work, with no success
until now. As there is no documentation other than the API reference for the
older version, I guessed this was the best way to get started. It seems that
the biggest issue is that some of the libraries used in the examples are not
being included in the makefiles (GeoTools - gt2d). I tried to include the
gt2d package into the makefiles, but I got lot's of errors. I even tried to
modify the BaseExample.java and it's dependencies to not use gt2d and only
use a basic perspective view with xj3d, but I got many internal errors and
in the end the only part that worked was the swing interface.

So this raises my question: can anyone help me getting any of the examples
that are provided with the library to work? Or maybe provide me with an
example designed to work with the latest version?

Thanks in advance,
Felipe
