I thought doing both was desirable even if not necessary.
Microsoft has a one time opportunity to go from being Microsoft the
Gray to Microsoft the White with this one. Apple has stumbled and
created an atmosphere where even the tech mags are turning on them
calling them "The New Microsoft". Play this well and Microsoft could
turn that around in a market that is very fragmented. Part of the
reason for that fragmentation has been the ham-fisted way the Big Cos
have stomped around in it with no plan to enhance the market but
thinly veiled or not veiled at all plans to conquer and dominate it.
It's comedic to watch a farmer start a fish farm with a bucket of fish
and a plow.
