The following site appears interesting:

	Sustainability of Digital Formats
Planning for Library of Congress Collections
	http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/formats/contact_format.shtml

Wondering if anyone has experience with this effort. All insights welcome.

I sent the following comment:

Wondering if the potential use of Extensible 3D (X3D) Graphics Standard has yet been considered by U.S. Library of Congress for archival storage of 3D models. You may be interested in knowing that this topic holds strong interest among the many individuals and institutions in our modeling community, and a new working group has formed on this topic.

"The Cultural and Natural Heritage (heritage) working group is focused on the development of examples, best practices and new techniques to capture, archive and distribute 3D representations of cultural and natural (biological) objects. This includes work by institutions and individuals seeking to model, preserve and communicate the visual and informational aspects of 3D objects holding historical and intellectual interest."

We are happy to provide further information and fill out a submission if you wish. Further information online at

and

Thanks for your efforts.

all the best, Don
