So I’m thinking that we should set up some avatar servers for *user* to download avatars from their server profile into their online worlds with. The downloading of the avatar would be an authorized activity with OAuth2, authorized by the user logging into and approving download of one of their possibly purchased avatars. I’ll let the server site decide if it charges per download (per world) or per avatar or per user. I am fairly sure that avatars could be hosted as a gist on github (public or private repository) or bitbucket, and the URL to the repository would be protected by the avatar server. The avatar server would act as a pass through site for the avatars, and will manage accounting (paying the designers, making sure the content doesn’t break security rules). Worlds would be required to have a license that prevented copying of avatars for their users.

Does this sound like a business activity someone wants to pursue? Essentially selling avatars for X3D? Should I approach TurboSquid?

John
