Hello Patrick,

On Jan 22, 2017 11:42 AM, "Patrick Dähne"

The rationale behind the rule „DEF/USE is forbidden for Bindable nodes“ is
explained in The Annotated VRML97 Reference Manual:

http://www.x-3-x.net/vrml/archive/annotatedVRML2/CH2.HTM#2.6.10

(See the first tip in section 2.6.10.)

Of course, the USE Viewpoint could be in a different Transform causing a
conflict.

Let's see if a script node is affected by the local coordinate system.

'The location of the Script node in the scene graph has no affect on its
operation.'
So, no, and a script node should be able to USE a bindable node as a field.

Great tips and notes in the Annotated Reference above!

Andreas
