recent upgrade helps, the online example looks OK as checked by the newly added jsonlint (check) links:

so,not sure where you got these from... using your library to convert .x3d to .java and then running the java to serialize .json output?

please advise on genesis and then we can track down the erroneous escape handling.  apparently for fieldValue export, but am just trying to understand which converter to troubleshoot.  thanks John.
