Also discerned during today's call:

ClassicVRML encoding says:
==========================
	5.15 SFString and MFString
	http://www.web3d.org/documents/specifications/19776-2/V3.3/Part02/EncodingOfFields.html#SFString

	A double quote character within the string is preceded with a backslash.
	A backslash character within the string is also preceded with a backslash forming two backslashes.
==========================

(These sentences do not appear in the Abstract specification, and are not needed there.)

So it appears that the two backslash sentences also need to be added to section 5.15 of X3D XML encoding.

If we do not mention backslash usage in XML encoding, there is no way to disambiguate a " as content or as an SFString delimiter.

all the best, Don
