4. *Humanoid Animation (HAnim) Draft International Specification (DIS)*

We are happy to report that the final round of HAnim DIS submitted by specification editors got excellent review feedback by Web3D Consortium members and Board of Directors.

We are having an HAnim Working Group teleconference this evening, 1700 pacific / 2000 eastern (Thursday morning Korea). Today's call will review H-Anim Part 1 Architecture, H-Anim Part 2 Motion data animation, H-Anim competition 2018/2019.

We will also review recent progress in X3Dv4 support for HAnim, specifically HAnimHumanoid and HAnimMotion nodes, as listed/linked in last week's minutes.

Potential discussion topic at Web3D Conference: how can various semantic techniques map HAnim to SNOWMED, FMA, etc. There will be future benefits to medical techniques if we become adept at cross-referencing joints and segments in human anatomy.

5. *Regular expresssions (regexes)*

Thanks to Andreas Plesch, John Carlson, Leonard Daly and Joe Williams for great dialog on x3d-public community mailing list to improve X3D regexes for validating numeric values. Multiple mail threads are ongoing as we continue improving these sophisticated techniques for improving X3D content.

6. *containerField*

In the X3D XML encoding, each containerField value is the field name from the X3D Specification that indicates a contained node's relationship to its parent node. Default containerField values for each node are correct in most cases, so the need to override default containerField values is relatively rare. Summary and details:

	X3D Scene Authoring Hints: containerField
	http://www.web3d.org/x3d/content/examples/X3dSceneAuthoringHints.html#containerField

Progress recently reported in

[x3d-public] containerField updates planned for X3D Schema, DTD and X3DUOM
	http://web3d.org/pipermail/x3d-public_web3d.org/2018-June/008980.html

Further improvements are possible. In near term, am adding value constraints to X3D XML Schema and X3D DOCTYPE to further validate content more strictly.

Looking ahead: it appears that perhaps half of these issues might be streamlined and eliminated, for example by changing unambiguous specialty field names such as watchList to children.

These are potentially excellent improvements for X3Dv4 and X3DUOM that have the potential to simplify content in all of the X3D file formats and programming language bindings. Ongoing specification comments and Mantis issues to follow that track these details. Members will be able to review these and consider applying changes in the second half of 2018.

7.*Github work, X3D language bindings*

Sharp-eyed review noticed that X3D language binding documents in github are watermarked Committee Draft rather than Working Draft. That is incorrect.

Dick will create a new watermark to remedy that situation where it occur. Don will confirm all changes are satisfactory.

As C# binding apparently was submitted as a Committee Draft rather than Working Draft early in the year. That was an unintentional error, we will raise that comment now with SC24 to see if they want to change it.

8. *Looking ahead*

Wow, what a tremendous amount of activity. This will only get multiplied next week during the excitement of VR Hackathon and Web3D 2018 Conference. It will be really great to see everyone again. 8)

Looking forward to continued ongoing progress together. Have fun with X3D!

all the best, Don
