Understood. As before, am not moving past Java 8 until Netbeans (and thus X3D-Edit) does.
You might further consider that keeping your code backwards compatible makes it more widely usable. The entire X3DJSAIL codebase and .jar files are Java 8 compatible, am hoping to keep it that way. The major functionality addition in Java 8 of pipeline processing was a great step up for our Java implementation of X3D.
So avoiding a Java 9 feature, if possible, is a good medium-term (1-2 year) strategy and not just a short-term (wait for Netbeans) strategy.
