For a basic installation of Python with the standard libraries the Windows installer from Python.org <http://python.org/> ( https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/ <https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/> ) works fine, I found it was just download, click and agree, and it worked.

If you want to get Python along with the NumPy and SciPy libraries for engineering/scientific computation, the Anaconda "conda" package manager.
This is available for free as a Community Edition at https://www.anaconda.com/distribution/ <https://www.anaconda.com/distribution/>. This is a bit more work than the basic Python because you have tons of choices as to what other software you want.

Among the code you can get with the Anaconda distribution is PyOcc, the Python bridge to the OpenCascade geometry software, which can export X3D geometry and is a basis for a STEP->X3D conversion workflow.
