Here’s a direct link to a search engine:

A site that supports XPath or xquery would probably be sufficient, wouldn’t you think?   Do any of the model search sites support XPath or xquery?

Thanks!

Note the distinction search by versus search for.   I may not be searching for a model, rather the animation used in the scene.   More example sites are welcome!

1. Here are all of the links previously reported on the list.  Updates and additions are welcome.

        X3D Resources: Model Search
        https://www.web3d.org/x3d/content/examples/X3dResources.html#ModelSearch

Please note that these links help people search for 3D models.  A number of the sites directly support X3D, and others are listed if they use formats that are easily converted to X3D.

2. Of further interest is that the X3D Semantic Web Working Group is making excellent progress in building ontology constructs and applying inference for deep queries both within and (eventually) across X3D models.  We have had an excellent half-year of progress, and I expect intense capabilities to be available by next year's conference.  Many thanks to Jakub Flotynski, Athanasios Malamos, Leslie Sikos and Nicholas Polys for their years of progress that has come together into the current surge.

We are discussing these capabilities in depth at Hotel Indigo in LA this coming weekend, first on Friday afternoon at the Web3D meetings and then over the weekend at Web3D 2019.

All information on this group will continue to be released publicly.  Thanks to everyone who is considering the opportunities.

all the best, Don
