Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
Chairs,

The Director is pleased to announce the recharter of the Audio Working group charter
   https://www.w3.org/2011/audio/charter/audio-2019.html

The group is chartered through 4 March 2022.

The mission of the Audio Working Group is to add advanced sound and music synthesis capabilities to the Open Web Platform.

Additional detail is available in the charter's Scope section:
   https://www.w3.org/2011/audio/charter/audio-2019.html#scope

Please use the following form to join (or re-join) the group. The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants:
   https://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/46884/join

This Call for Participation triggers the start of the 45 days grace period [1]. Current participants will need to rejoin the group, as a new deliverable has been added.

The Working Group chairs are Raymond Toy (Google) and Matt Paradis (BBC). Team contact is Chris Lilley, for 0.1 FTE.

More information about the Audio WG can be found on its homepage

Results of Charter Call for Review
------------------------------
We called for charter review on 20 December 2019:
   https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2019OctDec/0066.html

Thanks to the 18 Members who provided input:
   https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/audio2019/results

12 reviewers supported the charter, 3 suggested changes, and 1 abstained. There were 2 formal objections, related to the new deliverable.

Based on that feedback, updates were made to the charter as follows:

  * The name and scope of the new deliverable was changed, so as not to
constrain the WG in how to solve the problem
   * The Device and Sensors WG, listed in the coordination section
regarding microphone and speaker access, has been replaced by the
Web Real-Time Communications WG, which maintains the relevant
     specifications
   * The Web and TV Interest Group was renamed to the Media &
Entertainment Interest Group in 2017, so the coordination item in
the charter has been updated accordingly
   * Coordination with the Publishing Working Group was added, regarding
     AudioBooks and Publication Manifest
   * The link to Web Audio API 2.0 issues was corrected.
   * The charter duration was reduced from 3 years to 2

This announcement follows section 7.1.2 of the W3C Process Document:

and the Call for Participation follows section 5.2.4 of the W3C Process Document:
