[x3d-public] X3D4 progress: Mantis issues and draft specification

Dick and I have made much progress on Mantis issues with work ongoing.  Attached please find PDF snapshot of current list, available for further drill-down inquiry to Web3D members at

This Friday's X3D Working Group Teleconference will review status and several specific issues.  For example:

* Mantis 1277, Provide displayBBox field on X3DBoundedObject nodes to display bounding boxes. possible rename?

... specifically, given related fields bboxSize and bboxCenter, wouldn't a better name be bboxDisplay or bboxDisplayed?  All opinions welcome.

Of note is that all of these changes are being simultaneously applied to X3D XML Schema, DTD DOCTYPE, X3D Unified Object Model (X3DUOM), Java X3DJSAIL, Python X3DPSAIL, X3D Ontology, and most visibly

* Extensible 3D (X3D) 4.0 Tooltips

Release announcements on these many are forthcoming, all checked by regression testing of

Each change of the X3D4 Specification on Github includes a complete zip to facilitate individual review, annotated by change additions and deletions.

All key questions and results get confirmed publicly but, clearly, Web3D Consortium membership has value - in all directions.
