For me it’s just a test if a ParticleSystem with geometry works with shadows. Please note that I have implemented in the alpha version the X3DLightNode shadows field, ie. the test will not produce shadows as long there is not a shadows=TRUE included in the test files, which I will do when I have time in the next week.
