[x3d-public] release announcement: X3D-Edit 4.0, Xj3D, and opendis7-java

Happy New Year everyone.  Am happy to report that an updated release is available for X3D-Edit.

 

*	X3D-Edit is a free, open-source Extensible 3D (X3D) Graphics authoring tool for simple high-quality authoring, editing, import/export, validation and viewing of X3D scenes.

Distribution:

*	Apache NetBeans X3D-Edit Plugin is our primary distribution.
*	10,549 installations since May 2023

*	SourceForge X3D-Edit Distribution offers executable installers.
*	Averaging 80 downloads per month

All validation tools and numerous conversion stylesheets for X3D 4.0 Architecture have been updated as part of this release.  Numerous launchers are provided that simplify installation and handoffs to X3D viewing and modeling tools.  A convenience launcher for Wireshark network monitoring tool has just been added to the repertoire as well.  Numerous capabilities are available for X3D model authoring and validation, with select details available on the home page.

We are now maintaining issue reports and resolution on the Web3D Consortium github project.  Test reports welcome, especially for Linux and Mac.

*	Xj3D is an open-source browser and application programming interface written in Java for X3D and VRML97 graphics scenes.

*	opendis7-java
*	The opendis7-java library project provides a complete type-safe Java implementation of the IEEE Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) Protocol. Current support includes IEEE DIS Protocol version 7 (IEEE 1278.1-2012) and Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization SISO-REF-010 Enumerations specifications.
