<div>Dear Friends of SrrTrains</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Getting back to my mail from 2013-03-06 (please refer to first e-mail in this e-mail chain), and getting back to the listed options A), B) or C).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I would like to inform you the decision is basically to go for option C).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>This means:<br/>
- it will be a new open source project ( <a href="http://smuos.sourceforge.net" target="_blank">http://smuos.sourceforge.net</a> )<br/>
- it will be according to schedule "it's done when it's done"<br/>
- first action will be: take a long break<br/>
- first decisions will be:<br/>
- to decide, whether to implement a new server for this purpose or<br/>
to use an existing server (which one? will it be appreciated by the server's</div>
<div> developers?)<br/>
- to decide, which protocol to use (new one(s), existing one(s)?)</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Reason for the decision:<br/>
there are several reasons, e.g.</div>
<div> ":-|" is a good mood for me</div>
<div> "You have to try the impossible to achieve the possible" (Hermann Hesse)</div>
<div> "there is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 1:9)<br/>
<br/>
This means concretely<br/>
- SrrTrains project will probably hibernate for several (or many) years<br/>
- this is probably the last SrrTrains newsletter for several (or many) years</div>
<div> - if you are interested in additional info (more than public info) about SMUOS</div>
<div> project, please tell me</div>
<div> <br/>
Have a nice week<br/>
Christoph</div>

<div>Dear Don, Hi all</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Especially, I am referring to following mails and to the answers from Don Brutzman.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Are the answers still valid?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Is there some other open source (!) effort that makes my effort redundant?</div>

<div>Dear Friends of SrrTrains</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Since I sent this e-mail one and a half weeks ago, I have received positive feed back from France and from Sweden. See the e-mail chain below for more information.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Now I will additionally consult some of you at the LAN Party #3, then we will do a decision.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>As some initial steps, I did following things:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana;font-size: 12.0px;">
<div style="margin-left: 40.0px;">1) I splitted the hobby reports on page <a href="https://3c.gmx.net/mail/client/dereferrer?redirectUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fsimulrr.wordpress.com%2Fberichte&selection=tfol11bf287bbf709ec6" target="_blank">http://simulrr.wordpress.com/berichte</a> into two categories</div>
<div style="margin-left: 80.0px;"> </div>
<div style="margin-left: 80.0px;">a) Hobby reports for <u>X3D authors</u> (currently written in German language, except one report, which was spent by Alain Dumenieu in English language)</div>
<div style="margin-left: 80.0px;"> </div>
<div style="margin-left: 80.0px;">b) Hobby reports for<u> programmers</u> (all written in English language, only one minor concept paper in German)</div>
<div> </div>
<div style="margin-left: 80.0px;">Hope, the page is now better readable.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 80.0px;"> </div>
<div style="margin-left: 40.0px;">2) I created a new sourceforge project (scope not defined yet): <a href="http://smuos.sourceforge.net" target="_blank">http://smuos.sourceforge.net</a></div>

<div>Dear Alain</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I will try to continue. But first let me consult my friends and my wife.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I have got postive feed back from Sven-Erik Tiberg about option C).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>So you give me positive feed back about option B).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If we go for option B), then I will send a mail to X3D-public, asking if there is somebody out there, who already runs BS Collaborate 1.307 on a public server. I guess, it could really be possible somebody like this already exists.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I remember I have read in some technical description of BS Collaborate that this server supports splitting the traffic to independent "chat rooms".</div>
<div> </div>
<div>So, even if the server costs 20.000 EUR, it could be possible that there is somebody out there, where we can rent a BS Collaborate "chat room" for lets say 5-10 people for let's say 50 EUR/month. This would be affordable.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I'm not a friend of running the test version of BS Collaborate illegally on some public Windows machine 24/7.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>And I'm not a friend of buying the BS Collaborate my self and becoming an entrepreneur, who sells chat rooms to other people. This would not fit to my personal psychological profile, even if the business case could pay off.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>All the best</div>

<div>Dear Friends of SrrTrains<br/>
<br/>
The last pre-alpha version of the SrrTrains project was released with the latest newsletter from 2013-03-02.<br/>
<br/>
Now, in my humble opinion we have three options to proceed.<br/>
<br/>
A) Finally close the project, honouring all the fun we had and enjoying the experiences we've had<br/>
B) Continue playing around and improve the experimental software bit by bit<br/>
C) Try going to get serious<br/>
<br/>
I would be glad about feed back, before doing the decision.<br/>
<br/>
To explain a little bit more, what I mean, I have added a more detailed description of the three options in the P.S. of this newsletter.<br/>
<br/>
Have a nice week<br/>
Christoph<br/>
<br/>
P.S. Here is a short description of the three options<br/>
<br/>
A) Finally close the project :-)))))<br/>
Do the LAN Party #3 on 2013-03-26 and then think about something else<br/>
<br/>
B) Continue playing around :-(((((<br/>
The project will always be based on the test version of BS Collaborate<br/>
The project will never reach alpha status<br/>
Railway features will be implemented bit by bit, thus increasing</div>
<div> usability and applicability of the SRR Framework and of the SRR Tools<br/>
<br/>
C) Try going to get serious :-|<br/>
C.1) Start hibernation of project simulrr.sourceforge.net<br/>
C.2) Take the base module of the SRR Framework (only basic features for "Simple<br/>
Multiuser Online Scenes", no railway features) from simulrr.sourceforge.net<br/>
and start a new project with it<br/>
C.3) The new project shall be called smuos.sourceforge.net (SMUOS = "Simple<br/>
Multiuser Online Scenes")<br/>
C.4) Redesign the "Network Sensor API Prototypes"<br/>
- SrrControlNs.x3d<br/>
- SrrConsoleDispatcherNs.x3d<br/>
- SrrControlKmNs.x3d<br/>
- SrrObjectBaseNs.x3d<br/>
- SrrObjectBaseAnimNs.x3d<br/>
- SrrSwitchANs.x3d<br/>
- SrrSwitchBNs.x3d<br/>
- SrrKeyContainerNs.x3d<br/>
in a way, s o that they do not use the "EventStreamSensor" (BS Collaborate)<br/>
any more, but now they shall use some Java classes embedded in "Script"<br/>
nodes.<br/>
These Java classes shall process the protocol with a central server<br/>
- in an experimental way<br/>
- in a way that shall be compatible with XMPP API and with<br/>
EventStreamSensor node, but it shall extend the EventStreamSensor<br/>
by additional capabilities<br/>
- finally rendering useful prototypes for what I call "Mature Network<br/>
Sensor (MNS)"<br/>
C.5) optional: if SMUOS is satisfying --> merge SMUOS into SIMULRR project<br/>
C.6) continue simulrr.sourceforge.net (beyond 2017)<br/>
