The Web3D Consortium is proud to recognize these amazing individuals for their achievements and continuing contributions! Each of them reflect here on the benefits of direct participation in Web3D.</p>
<p>John Carlson is well known as "<a href="http://coderextreme.net">Coder Extreme</a>" who has spearheaded efforts to create a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) Encoding for the Extensible 3D Graphics (X3D) International Standard. His efforts have also improved the Object Model for X3D (OM4X3D).</p>
<blockquote><p>I have been a member of the Web3D Consortium for over a year now, and I find it rewarding to work with these people. They are very helpful and responsive. I work on testing X3DJSAIL, X3dToJson.xslt and X3dToJava.xslt. My own projects include X3DJSONLD and other X3D JSON related projects. I have converted X3D JSON to XML/DOM, X3D JSON to Java, X3D JSON to Python, and X3D JSON to JavaScript. I have also done preliminary work on conversion with STL and PLY. In my spare time, I work on programmable shaders and D3.js integration with X3DOM.</p>
<p>My time with Web3D has been very productive, and I enjoy it! </p>

<p>Dr. Andreas Plesch has made essential X3D contributions in two premier open-source JavaScript implementations: <a href="http://titania.create3000.de/cobweb" target="_blank">Cobweb</a> and <a href="http://www.x3dom.org" target="_blank">X3DOM</a>.</p>
<blockquote><p>As a research geoscientist in academia, professional interests include applying 3d structural analysis to seismic hazard as well as the oil and gas industry. In my free time I enjoy my family, bike riding, and contributing to open software.</p>
<p>In my experience, a great community with deep insights and strong connections, exposure to the latest developments in professional 3d applications, and a commitment to substantial contributions to the field are the substance of Web3D membership. Highlights of a year of membership included the opportunity to realize ideas of tighter integration of X3D and the DOM after the release of the amazing Cobweb X3D browser, getting involved with VR efforts by X3DOM, A-Frame and WebVR, as well as turning QGIS into an authoring tool for the X3D geospatial component. All of those fantastic RR (real reality :)) experiences were facilitated to a large degree by the Web3D Consortium. Big thanks for last year's outstanding professionals award!</p>
