<div dir="auto">They’re key on on metadata. If one is creating a generic program to create X3D, the difficulty is putting in specific scene metadata into generic code. If you do one off programs to create scenes, it’s a lot easier to add scene specific stuff. What I think we’ll see is specific programs to create specific scenes, so adding metadata to scenes will be easy. We just don’t have a large corpus of specific programs to create specific virtual worlds, because most are in closed source, gaming worlds. We can hope that tools like Castle Game Engine will provide a raft of these gaming worlds, or public sector worlds like America’s Army (I’m dating myself) or web-based worlds become more prevalent.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">There do exist a raft of scenes in non-Turing complete languages, which do have a raft of metadata, we just don’t have programs that add metadata which isn’t captured from humans.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">How many human-oriented authoring tools automatically provide metadata? I don’t even think X3D-Edit does that? Idk.
