[X3D-Ecosystem] blender extension, Web3D X3D/VRML2 format

That is the current version of the X3D/VRML import/export code, the one that has been in Blender for years. Now called an extension, it used to be call add-ons. When Blender introduced the “Extension Platform” with version 4 they stopped distributing this X3D extension with the core Blender distribution, it has to be installed from the page you have shown. I believe the only external 3D formats included with the core Blender download now are STL, OBJ, and glTF.

The X3D-Ecosystem WG contributed bug fixes and enhancements to this earlier in 2025; in particular support X3D export of image textures with associated image files, as well as correctly handling the Text node requiring parsing MFString encoded values. The work starting up with implementing export of PhysicalMaterial from Blender may be contributed to this extension as well.
