Graphics on the Web: Going Beyond Images and Rectangles
by Vladimir Vukicevic
Over the past few years, browser innovation has proceeded at a fever
pitch. As a result, the open web has many capabilities that were not
possible even a few years ago, all available in a standards-compliant
and cross-platform way. In this presentation, we'll look at some of
the recently available capabilities, as well as provide a look at
features that are currently being worked on. We'll also examine
efforts to get 3D capabilities into the browser, and talk about some
of the core improvements in browser technologies that are making this
possible.

Vladimir Vukicevic has been involved with the Mozilla project for four
years, and is currently the Firefox technical lead. Vlad is interested
in bringing new capabilities to the open web platform, especially in
the graphics and multimedia areas, to enable the development of rich
and engaging web applications. In the past, he's been involved in
improving portions of the Firefox UI, optimizing the browser's
rendering layer,as well as implementing features such as the HTML5
Canvas in Firefox.
