The second AEC Hackathon (version 1.1) meets this weekend:
"A first for the Architecture, Engineering, Construction Industry, the AEC Hackathon is a non-profit event that creates on-the-spot teams of technologists and industry stakeholders to shape the future of our built environment. The hackathon provides a playful, exploratory environment where disruption and creative ideas are the essential tools for innovation. The AEC community faces fresh new problems that urgently need brilliant minds to solve them. How are you changing the world?"
If you have Web3D/X3D/X3DOM demos to show or describe, please let me know.
Location is Facebook HQ in Menlo Park CA, running from Friday night thru Sunday. I plan to be up there on Saturday.
The first event included a talk about X3D:
AEC Hackathon 1.0 - Web3D opportunities for AEC BIM
The CAD group is further looking at a serious effort later this year to grow X3D support for AEC/BIM. Related working-group efforts include support for 3D Printing and preservation of digital assets and Cultural Heritage.
We will also cover these topics at the upcoming Web3D Emerging Technologies event, Tuesday 15 March in Arlington Virginia at the Virginia Tech Research Center.
I am also thinking we ought to hold a workshop at the Web3D 2014 Conference 8-10 August in Vancouver CA. Please contact me if you are interested in organizing (or contributing to) this session.
all the best, Don
