[X3D-Public] Viewers for scenes saved from X3DEdit

I am having difficulty understanding why the powerful validation tools
in X3DEdit do not indicate issues which prevent the files being read
by several viewers. This makes it difficult to recommend viewers to
those who do not wish to acquire technical expertise.

With respect to the Cortona viewer, this does not render files (in
Win7 64) saved without warning messages. I understand there may well
be initial lines of code which prevent this, and I understand that
Cortonoa is focused on "legacy" .wrl files. I recognize the confusion
regarding which variant of VRML the scene may be saved in

I note the same goes for Orbisnap.

However H3DViewer will render such files. As weil as FreeWRL.The
latter requires more insight to control the display

The key message seems to be related to the (VRML) header and the
encoding -- but with no warning from the validation.

Hence the only advice to users accessing .wrl files is to use H3DViewer?

I presume other advice is required for those using Linux or Mac.

The confusion is a constraint on increasing interest in virtual reality
