W3C has advanced the Battery Status API to Proposed Recommendation.

> Abstract.  This specification defines an API that provides information about the battery status of the hosting device.

It is interesting to consider that X3D players operating within a Web/DOM environment might have access to battery capacity and rate.  Such information might affect rendering decisions, for example.

Also interesting was that security considerations relevant to privacy were uncovered and addressed in the recent round of review.
