I suggest looking into xmlpg for bootstrapping coding for ALP. I'm not 
sure it will work, but it will be a big bootstrap for developers.

If we can get the PDUs in something (XML, XML Schema, X3DUOM), that 
would be a great start.

If we reuse the same code generator, then DIS and ALP may work better 
together!
