If you can produce some sort of image, like even in 2D, that might be built in three d for viewing in nD+1, then maybe something can be authored using x3d. Think of a temporal image shown by a pattern of points, somehow transformed into surfaces defined by curves formed by points connected into triangles to produce a continuous mesh in realistic coordinate system, then animate using a hierarchal collection of joints that operate to manifest programmatic or improvised displacements of the mesh.

Of course, using interacting meshes and sensor systems animating various humanoid stimulus-response interactors.

Anywhere you can imagine that everything you experience can be modeled by you using modern techniques of multiple media integration and that sensors can transcode input/outputs from multiple virtual transactions shared onto human users in a process that does not result in total collapse of the reality possibly followed by collapse of the virtuality. 
So, are you very sure that you wish to proceed with x3d?
