If you continue using 3.3 instead of 4.0 for personal or business 
reasons, please consider using the following Java rarely,

CubeMapTexturing/ComposedCubeMapTexture.java

DIS/DISEntityManager.java

Networking/LoadSensor.java

ParticleSystems/ParticleSystem.java

I don't know if the inclusion of these throws off errors in the 
X3DLoaderDOM.java  I recognize DIS and LoadSensor from the SourceForge 
discussions...easy fix after a lot of heartache?
