[x3d-public] Where has EnvironmentLight node gone?

Don can answer best, but I believe:
The node was simply removed from final spec version because it wasn't
ready, i.e. it wasn't precisely specified. And that was (and still is)
my fault! I did (and still do!) want to pursue precise specification
of this node, but I just never finished due to lack of time. Some
outstanding questions are on
https://github.com/michaliskambi/x3d-tests/wiki/Image-Based-Lighting-(EnvironmentLight-node)
, section "Some open questions".
Due to this, I advocated to remove this node myself from spec, to not
confuse people with unfinished / unclear spec that may drastically
change in the future (though I don't think it will actually
drastically change, just "better safe than sorry" when it comes to
standards).
So that being said, the node is not going anywhere. It is still on my
roadmap to finalize it, both for everyone using X3D, and for my Castle
Game Engine use-case to have "image-based lighting in a perfect way".
If you have implemented it in X_ITE -- hooray! Thank you and I will
gladly test how it works. Just bear it mind the spec of it may change
significantly in future version (when we resolve these "Some open
questions")... but I actually don't think it will change, at least the
node signature given on
https://github.com/michaliskambi/x3d-tests/wiki/Image-Based-Lighting-(EnvironmentLight-node)
should be good.
Best regards,
Michalis
