More to see, but I got the impression of a point cloud, not a mesh, where each point gets 'splatted' by a splat with attributes like color, opacity, and size.
They say it is real fast.

Subject: [x3d-public] 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS)
There was an interesting session in Metaverse Standards Forum (MSF) recently that looked closely at 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS).
* Have Gaussian Splats Arrived in the Standardization Sweet Spot?

Wondering if anyone had looked at this topic already as a possibility for conversion to (or rendering in) an X3D player?
all the best, Don
