<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">Hi John,</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">Sorry for late responding, I found this e-mail when I cleaned my private inbox (do this about twice a year).</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">I think, we should not be too specific. Why only transmitting 3D transform?</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">Why not streaming general data structure (e.g. defined by JSON or XML)?</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">I think, we should be open to any transport, be it event streams, TCP streams, SIP message bodies, UDP datagrams.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">If we want to be open to "any transport", then we will need:</span></div>
<ul>
<li style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">1 core protocol for the application layer (which PDUs can be transmitted and what is their meaning)</span></li>
<li style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">1 "glue" specification per transport (how to transport the core protocol over a specific transport)</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">That's basically how they did it for IP in the eighties.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">Have a nice week,</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'verdana'; font-size: 12px; color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: #ffffff;">CP/V</span></div>

<div><strong>Betreff: </strong>[x3d-public] Streaming transforms other than UDP/DIS</div>
</div>
Can we have discussion about streaming 3D transform (translation, rotation, scale)
<div>updates and potential standardization?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Not everyone wants to join or has the skill to do UDP over VPN. Standards like websockets and emerging “local-first” databases in the web-browser look interesting. There are already API’s being built on top of websockets. If some kind of standard (SAI?) could be built on top of websockets, great! If this is DIS in disguise, that’s Ok, let’s add it to our browsers and make servers available.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>How many DIS browsers are there?</div>
<div>
<div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks!</div>
