[x3d-public] Declarative Rules/goals for x3d scenes

I am wondering if someone has applied a general *declarative* rule or goal
approach to x3d scenegraph modification.  Uses might be:

* physics-based scene graphs, alternative physics, force-directed
* goal-directed behavior, foraging, chase, route plotting
* access lists for in-scene objects
* automatic layout of the scene
* categorization and labelling

Anything else?  While this may not be the goal of X3D, integration with a
declarative rule- or goal-based framework is desired.  What's the best
platform independent way of doing this?
