yes, since prototypes are a template for a customized collection of other X3D nodes.

yes, should be possible if done properly.

The design goal for all X3D language bindings (SAI javascript, SAI java, etc.) and file encodings (XML, ClassicVRML, binary, JSON) is to fully and correctly match the semantics of the X3D abstract specification.

and i suppose.. the design goal for the X3D Object Model is actually the same: fully capture the object-oriented nature of the X3D scene graph in the X3D abstract specification.  what thinkest thou Roy?
