Web3D Liaisons and Partners

To aid in advancing the Web3D's Consortium's mission, Web3D has and will continue to establish special membership agreements and liaisons with other organizations. These partnerships are often established through either an official liasion document or a "Memorandum of Understanding," which establishes the purpose, benefits, and areas of mutual collaboration between Web3D and the in-kind partner organization. These partnerships help to advance the work of X3D development and adoption within Web3D and the partner organizations. Web3D partners are oriented to one or more of the following focus areas 1) combining resources when appropriate to advance specification development, and 2) conducting outreach with developer and user communities to raise awareness and accelerate adoption of ISO X3D® specifications.

ACM SIGGRAPH Logo
ACM Siggraph
SIGGRAPH's Mission is to promote the generation and dissemination of information on computer graphics and interactive techniques. ACM SIGGRAPH's purpose is to foster a membership community whose core values help them to catalyze the innovation and application of computer graphics and interactive techniques. Web3D is honored to have ACM SIGGRAPH be a sponsor of Web3D's annual symposium. www.siggraph.org
ISO Logo
ISO/IEC JTC1/SC24   Computer graphics, image processing and environmental data representation
Area of Work: Standardization of interfaces for information technology based applications relating to: computer graphics, image processing, virtual reality, environmental data representation and, interaction with, and presentation of, information. Included are the following related areas:
Modelling and simulation, related reference models; application program interfaces; functional specifications; representation models; interchange formats, encodings and their specifications, including metafiles; device interfaces; testing methods; registration procedures; presentation and support for creation multimedia and hypermedia documents. www.iso.org
Khronos Group Logo
The Khronos Group
The Khronos Group is a member-funded industry consortium focused on the creation of open standard, royalty-free APIs to enable the authoring and accelerated playback of dynamic media on a wide variety of platforms and devices. All Khronos members are able to contribute to the development of Khronos API specifications, are empowered to vote at various stages before public deployment, and are able to accelerate the delivery of their cutting-edge 3D platforms and applications through early access to specification drafts and conformance tests. www.khronos.org
Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Logo
Open Geospatial Consortium
The OGC is an international industry consortium of more than 316 companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available interface specifications. OpenGIS(R) Specifications support interoperable solutions that "geo-enable" the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT. The specifications empower technology developers to make complex spatial information and services accessible and useful with all kinds of applications. www.opengeospatial.org
World Wide Web (W3C) Consortium
The W3C Consortium
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. W3C's mission is to lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the Web. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential. W3C is an international forum for information, commerce, communication, and collective understanding. www.w3.org
