Thanks for the helpful note, Vince.

Note that I will continue to develop my blender loader @

https://github.com/coderextreme/X3DJSONLD/blob/master/blend/localfinal.py

And an exporter @

https://github.com/coderextreme/BlenderX3DSupport/tree/main/io_scene_x3dv/blender/exp

These will be able to load and export X3D nodes by using Blender objects of
EMPTY type when something is not compatible with Blender. I don’t
currently have an attribute solution, but I’ve heard metadata is possible.

These are not intended to be interoperable with other formats like glTF,
but anything might be possible.

Normal Blender users should be able to use the Blender extension,
io_scene_x3d.

I don’t know what will happen to my work on the io_scene_x3d addon at this
point.

Since X3D is more about applications (sensors) and less about modeling (no
interactivity), a new approach is needed. As glTF and maybe Blender get
more interactivity extensions in their file formats, we will see what
happens.

Back in the old days, Blender supported game development.
