X_ITE Playground is an excellent new capability is available that allows
editing an X3D scene within an HTML web page and immediately seeing results
rendered by X_ITE.
* X_ITE X3D Browser: Step Into The Future
* https://create3000.github.io/x_ite
* X_ITE is a new 3D JavaScript library entirely written in JavaScript
and uses WebGL for 3D rendering. Authors can publish X3D and VRML source
online within an HTML5 page with X_ITE that works with Web browsers without
prior plugin installation. This gives X3D authors the ability to displays
content in 3D, using WebGL 3D graphics technology to display X3D content in
several different browsers across several different operating systems. Since
X3D is backwardly compatible, X_ITE can also be used as a VRML viewer.
* X_ITE Playground
* https://create3000.github.io/x_ite/playground
* Includes different rendering options (point, wireframe, flat,
phong), scaling, etc. Example screenshot attached.
* Rendering changes occur immediately as you edit the model source,
super helpful for exploring and debugging.
This is similar in many ways to the also-excellent X3DOM Editor by Andreas
Plesch, released earlier this year.

Am thrilled to report that both X_ITE Playground and X3DOM Editor are
available for thousands of models in our X3D Example Archives, published
under an Web3D Consortium open-source license.
* X3D Resources: X3D Example Archives
* The X3D Examples Archives demonstrate how X3D nodes and scenes work.
Thousands of scenes are provided in all X3D encodings. You can browse them
individually online or download fully complete, separately installable .zip
archives.

This Web-based approach is a great way to learn about X3D modeling, and to
check on possible model variations. It is also a major capability for
collaboratively checking how the latest-greatest versions of two of our
major X3D4 players have implemented the X3D specification. Live online -
wow, wow, wow, wow.
Ever modest and insightful, Holger writes: "The development goes on and on
and also new ideas arise again and again. We can be curious about the
future."
Have fun with X_ITE Playground! 8)
.and X3DOM editor too! 8)
all the best, Don
