An opportunity for graphical detectives:

I notice a white gem flashing in the middle of the transparent sphere when
the camera is level. It could be lighting coming from the Viewpoint as
seen on iOS. The intention is for the sphere to be transparent.

We’ve got two machines with NVidia and non-NVidia that show the gem. We’ve
got one machine where it’s transparent. And we have the iOS device, where
most of the sphere is grey—I have run the device in webGL mode, so there’s
no webGL2!

Originally this code was intended to do great circles around the earth, but
I gave up on the project when I couldn’t figure out how to keep the camera
view parallel to the sphere.

The issue is being tracked in the create3000’s x_ite repo on GitHub.
