Brutzman. Regrets: Doug Sanden.

No Web3D Consortium member-only information appears in these minutes.

1.	X3D 2023 goals. Our primary activities for X3D Working Group in
2023 are focused on broad and correct deployment.

a.	Encourage consistent rendering, interaction and usage for the many
tremendous capabilities in X3D4.
b.	Update ISO specifications and implementations for multiple
programming languages and file encodings to match X3D4.

2.	Metaverse Standards Forum (MSF). Group proposal regarding
interoperability of Web standards for metaverse will soon be proposed.
Web3D Consortium and community feedback will be welcome. POC is Nicholas
Polys.

3.	Node inventory. Always super to see steady improvements in
implementations. Doug and Don have deferred integrating his spreadsheet
updates to another time.

4.	Emissive color and bloom. Great example and comparisons, very
interesting:

The analysis sounds great and the image looks compelling - thanks for
sharing. 8)

Regarding "what should we do, that leads to the following.

5.	X3D 4.1 leadership opportunity. Art of the possible, for all of us:

a. X3D 4.0 supports glTF 2.0 normatively.

b. Extensions are welcome, the X in X3D is Extensible.

c. It benefits authors and end users if browser support for extensions
proceed consistently.

d. This mailing list, X3D Working Group discussions, and Web3D Mantis Issue
Tracker provide a proven path for reaching consensus on X3D modeling support
and specification changes.

e. I will keep going on X3D 4.0 for a while until it ripples through all of
our other related specifications.

f. We do need one or two people to coordinate and lead efforts towards a
future X3D 4.1 - in other words, not me.

This is a seriously excellent opportunity. You can learn a lot and help
influence both present and future by helping to lead and coordinate X3D 4.1
efforts.

Another solid week of progress. Have fun with X3D! 8)

all the best, Don
