Attendees at today's weekly X3D Working Group meeting: Anita Havele, Dick
Puk, Don Brutzman.

Web3D Consortium has received an advance review copy of the X3D4
Architecture 19775-1 Draft International Specification.

*	DRAFT INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ISO/IEC DIS 19775-1:2022(E),
Information technology - Computer graphics, image processing and
environmental data representation - Extensible 3D (X3D), Part 1:
Architecture and base components
*	Introduction. Extensible 3D (X3D) is a software standard for
defining interactive web- and broadcast-based 3D content integrated with
multimedia. X3D is intended for use on a variety of hardware devices and in
a broad range of application areas such as engineering and scientific
visualization, multimedia presentations, entertainment and educational
titles, web pages, and shared virtual worlds. X3D is also intended to be a
universal interchange format for integrated 3D graphics and multimedia. X3D
is the successor to the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML), the
original ISO standard for web-based 3D graphics (ISO/IEC 14772). X3D
improves upon VRML with new features, advanced application programmer
interfaces, additional data encoding formats, stricter conformance, and a
componentized architecture that allows for a modular approach to supporting
the standard.

Of note is that X3D4 includes authoring recommendations are included for
HTML5 integration, with full support defined for both glTF 2.0 and Web Audio
API.

This ballot-preparation document has been circulated by International
Standards Organization with International Electrotechnical Committee
(ISO/IEC) and now, in turn, the U.S. national standards body INCITS, which
is asking for comments.

*	InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards
(INCITS)
*	Committee H3, Graphics and Imaging
*	INCITS/Graphics and Imaging develops standards for computer graphics
and image processing. The area of work includes the standardization of
interfaces, in windowed and non-windowed environments, for: Computer
Graphics, Image Processing, and the interaction with and visual presentation
of information.
