The X3D4 Architecture is designed for creation and publication of secure models that simply avoid vectors for end-user vulnerabilities. Further careful handling of url links and embedded scripts provide author control to protect against attack vectors that sometimes seem commonplace in other languages. Additional open security, as specified by W3C's XML Security Recommendations, provides the strongest approach for secure Web documents used internationally on the Web. Among several options for Web authors is the XML-based .x3d file encoding, which means that the full power of Web Security can be applied to X3D Graphics models.
Security is an essential part of Web activity. Online examples document how to apply World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) security standards for XML Encryption (privacy) and XML Digital Signature (authentication) to X3D scenes. In particular, the X3D Security Examples show how to use the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Security Recommendations for XML Signature and XML Encryption with X3D. X3D Resources: Security provides an additional set of security issues and resources.
